Preparation
Before beginning, make sure your pork shoulder is well-trimmed of any excess fat. This will allow the meat to truly absorb the flavor of your BBQ sauce mixture, and prevent the sandwiches from being overly greasy.
Cooking Process
To make your BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, place your prepared pork shoulder into your slow cooker. Combine your BBQ sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, crushed garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl, then pour it over your pork. Cook this on a low setting for 8 hours, or until the pork is tender enough to be shredded with a fork. Shred the pork, combine it with the sauce again in the slow cooker, then heap it onto bread rolls and top with coleslaw.
Tips and Tricks
You can use any type of bread rolls you prefer, from classic hamburger buns to ciabatta rolls for an artisan touch.
If you prefer a bit of spice, add a dash of hot sauce to your BBQ mixture.
Experiment with different coleslaws to change up the flavor profile of your sandwich.
